Care Guide For Handmade Kindle Cover
Share
Handcrafted quality deserves a light touch. A little care goes a long way. Use this guide to keep your cover looking its best.
Materials: Cover and lining 100% cotton canvas; middle layer: polyester padding (vatelin).
Washing
· Handwash in cold or lukewarm water with a mild liquid detergent.
· Do not soak longer than 10–15 minutes; this preserves padding loft.
· Gently press water through the layers; avoid scrubbing to prevent clumping.
Drying
· Do not wring; press out excess water gently between clean towels.
· Reshape and smooth seams, then dry flat in the shade.
· Avoid radiators, direct sun, and tumble dryers; heat can shrink cotton canvas.
· Flip once or twice during drying to prevent moisture being trapped in the padding.
Stain care
· Spot clean fresh stains with diluted mild detergent; blot, don’t rub.
· For oily spots, a tiny drop of gentle dish soap can help; rinse thoroughly right away.
· Avoid chlorine bleach.
Ironing and heat
· If needed, iron on medium heat with a pressing cloth.
· Avoid heavy steam; do not heat padded sections or metal/zipper parts directly.
Protection and storage
· Store in a cool, dry place, flat or loosely folded; avoid prolonged compression to keep the padding from flattening.
Color care
· Wash separately the first few times; slight color bleed is possible.
· When damp, keep away from dark denim and highly dyed items to avoid dye transfer.
Avoid
· Strong machine cycles, tumble drying, wringing, stiff brushes, and solvent- or alcohol-based cleaners.
· Extended soaking, as it can flatten the padding.
